All Paxsoft backend configuration is performed by going to the administrator section of Explore and accessing Components -> Paxsoft

There is a lot to learn about configuring Paxsoft, but we will start with the most important: users.

Paxsoft has five types of user: Non-registered users, Registered users, Receptionists, Property Managers and Super Property Managers. These are grouped into two classes, authorised and non-authorised users.

All property management functions are performed via the front end of Explore with the exception of admin (and he/she can be disabled if required) there is no requirement for any manager to have backend access to Explore.

Authorised users have varying degrees of property management activities available to them, whereas non-authorised users can simply view a property and make bookings.

Non-registered Users (non-authorised)

These users are visitors to the site who are not registered on the server. Paxsoft does not demand that a user be registered on the server, but it will not remember their details from visit to visit.

Registered users (non-authorised)

Same as non-registered users except that once they've made a booking on a property, their details for that property will be remembered so long as they are logged into the website.

Receptionists (authorised user)

In addition to making bookings they can also view and edit guest details and view booking details.

Property Managers (authorised user)

Same as Receptionist, plus they have access to all of the various options required for property management functions such as configuring the property, setting up tariffs and all other configuration options.

Super Property Managers (authorised user)

Same as a Property Manager but in addition they can access the bug reporting tool and if the Site Config option "Global editing mode?" is set to Yes then any language editing functions they perform will impact language settings for all properties, not just the one they may be editing.

All users can perform bookings (if the property allows), however if a gateway is configured for a given property the system will not offer the payment option to the authorised user (in other words they won't be able to make a payment on behalf of the guest), whereas non-authorised users (Non-registered & Registered users) will be offered the payment option.

The differences between Super and non-Super managers: Super property managers can take advantage of the global text editing mode, and only super property managers can see the bug reporting tool in the manager's menu (new for 2.6.1). As of 2.6.2 Super Property Managers can create new properties regardless of the site configuration setting Users can register their properties?

Changing a user's status from non-authorised to authorised and back again is done via the Show Profiles page in Paxsoft's backend configuration. Clicking on Show Profiles from the Paxsoft Control Panel/Components menu will bring up a list of every registered user on the system. You can choose to make a user an Authorised user by clicking on the green tick () underneath the 'Currently authorised' column. The user will not be assigned to any property in the system (highlighted by a red background in the profiles list) as a Receptionist. You will need to assign them to their property by clicking on the green tick to the right of the 'Default property' column.  You will be presented with a list of property names with check boxes next to them. Choose the property(s) that the user is to be allowed to administer by clicking on a checkbox button next to the property's name and click the Save button. If you want the user to be a Super Property Manager then select Yes in the drop down at the top of the page.

By default the user is created as a Receptionist. If you want to make them a Property Manager then you will need to perform a similar function by again doing Show Profiles and clicking the green tick to the right of the column marked "Access level".

Here you will be able to choose between two access levels, either Receptionist or Property Manager.
