Scenario 1 Hotel/Bed and Breakfast/Pension
This discussion assumes that your Tariff Mode is set to Advanced Mode.
You need to set up your rooms and tariffs. For the purposes of this document we will assume that you are configuring a property on the system for a small Bed and Breakfast. This property has four rooms, two doubles and two twins, and that you have low season and high season tariffs of €25 & €35 per night for doubles, and €15 & €20 per night for twins. Low season is 1st January 2008 to 30th April 2008, and High Season is 1st May 2008 to 31st September 2008. You charge on a per room per night basis, and there is a single person supplement (if a single person occupies a double room, then you charge an extra €5) policy in place. Rooms 1 and 2 are double rooms, rooms 3 and four are twins. The tariff model will be the flat rate model, IE the tariff that's chosen when they select the room will reflect the rate per night for the entire period of the booking.
Click on the Property Admin icon to view rooms, tariffs and your property details page. If necessary click on the Rooms tab to bring up your list of rooms.
When a property is created, by default a new room is created is called CHANGE ME. Edit the room by clicking on this button:

First let's remove the room name and instead set the room number to one (1). Make sure that the D/B room type has been selected in the drop down box. In this room configuration page the important fields are the Room Type and the Max People (the number of people the room can accommodate). No decisions are made by the system regarding the room number, name or floor. They are just for information purposes for the guest. The smoking and disabled options are drop down boxes, you should choose those that are relevant for your property. It is possible to allow users to search for smoking versus non-smoking rooms, but in a default Paxsoft installation this is switched off.
Set the Max People to 2 and click Save. You will be returned to the Property Admin page.
The rest of the rooms are pretty much the same, so we can use the clone functionality to make more rooms and minor changes to them. Click the clone button next to the room.

Click this and you will have a copy of the room, just change the room number to two (2) and click Save. With the twin bedrooms, do the same, changing the numbers to three and four, and making sure that the Room Type is "T/B".
Next we need to set up some tariffs. In this scenario we need four tariffs, two for the double bedrooms and two for the twin bedrooms. You've seen how the clone feature works above, so I won't labour the point except to describe setting up the first tariff.
The edit & clone icons are the same, so make sure you are on the Property Admin Page and click the Tariffs Tab. You can now edit the existing tariff. We will create the Low season tariff for double rooms.
All of the inputs here are important, but for now you don't want to change the Ignore PPPN or Allow Weekends flags.
Use sensible titles for your tariffs, after all they will be seen by your clients. I will call this one 'DB Low Season'.
Using the button adjacent to the Valid from date select 1st January 2008, and in the valid to field select the 30th April 2008.
If you recall, low season for a double room is €25, so put that in the Rate per night field.
Leave the min and max days to 1 and 100 respectively, we will now look at the min and max people. These fields will set the minimum and maximum number of people who can be in one party when the system searches for tariffs (more in the booking process section). As we have up to 8 beds available in this property we will set the min people to 1 and the max people to 8. If we wanted people to only ever be able to book one room at a time then we could have set the max people to two. Again, it's very important to ensure that you select the room type, so do that here.
Click Save. You've now edited the tariff, and I expect that you can set up the other three tariffs for DB High season, and TB Low Season and TB High season without me. You can create a new tariff (if you don't want to clone one) by clicking on the New Tariff button (when on the Tariffs tab).

Finally, we need to set up the single person supplement. Go to General Configuration again and click on the supplements tab and set Single person supplements to Yes. Leave Figure is percentage set to No and change Single person supplement charge to 5.
That's it. You've set your property up, created some rooms, associated them and the new tariffs with room types and set your single person supplement to €5. You can test this now by creating a booking (but if it's still 2007 don't be surprised to not see any rooms available until you change the arrival date to 2008!)
